The home page of Amalia Roots in English. An illustration fills the plate, a woman seen from behind sitting on a blue and white upholstered footstool on a grassy clifftop above the sea, among wild flowers and hydrangeas; beneath it the headline "Fabric, wood and time. Upholstery made by hand for the home." and the line "Workshop in Comillas, Cantabria. Visits by appointment."

Brief

Amalia Roots is the upholstery workshop of Laura Lopez-Real, who runs the studio, in Comillas, Cantabria: two pieces of its own, a footstool and a headboard, work made to measure, and restoration. The site had to sell pieces that did not yet exist as photographs, so each one is a design render, labelled as such, and a realtime 3D model the visitor configures: legs, fabric and piping on the footstool; five shapes and six widths on the headboard, each width modelled on its own so that the curves keep their size instead of stretching.

The price follows the configuration, and the quote request carries it, so the workshop answers about the piece the visitor chose. It is the first site built on the studio’s kit, Spanish by default with English under /en, and its configurator is the Interactive piece the studio offers inside a website project.

The footstool's configurator. On the left a design render of a pale upholstered rectangular footstool on turned legs, on grey; on the right its options, legs turned or tapered for 40 euros less, the fabric, sand linen, and the piping in the same fabric or charcoal, then the price, EUR 590, and "Request a quote with this configuration".

The headboard's configurator. A design render of a cream headboard with a chapel silhouette and contrast piping, beside its options, six widths from 96 to 186 cm with their price differences, five shapes, chapel, arch, straight, scallop and serpentine, on the wall or on legs, and the fabric.
The headboard, six widths, each its own model, and five shapes
The made-to-measure page. The headline "What is not in the catalogue is drawn with you.", a short paragraph on the pieces it covers, then how a commission works in four steps, conversation, measurements and fabric, workshop and delivery, and what to send.
Made to measure
The quote page. The headline "Request a quote.", fields for name, email and phone, the topic with "A piece from the catalogue" already chosen, and beside the form what happens next and the workshop's contacts.
